Overview

This program extracts signal patterns in DNA sequences using a discriminant analysis (class II quantification theory).

Features

Extraction of signal patterns is one of important problems in genetic information processing. The patterns are utilized for considering DNA-protein interaction and predicting functional sites in gene identification. Using a discriminant analysis (class II quantification theory), this program extracts signal patterns in DNA sequences consisting of 2 categories (positive and negative samples).

Function

  1. Extracting signal patterns in DNA sequences consisting of 2 categories (positive and negative samples).
  2. Calculating category weights which indicate contribution to discrimination of 2 categories. (The weights are assigned to bases A, T, C, and G at each position in a DNA sequence.)
  3. Selecting minimum set of category weights, which is significant to the discrimination, based on statistical test.
  4. Predicting functional sites and discriminating DNA sequences using obtained category weights.
