Free Subject Review:
There was only one submission to the free subject category in this year's contest. Last year, many excellent programs were submitted, including a robot game, a WWW browser, a game program that learns and a WWW server. The high level may have discouraged entries this year. Another reason may be due to the subjects of the sequential and parallel environment categories. The subjects of this year are relatively difficult, and thus it may have taken too much time to complete submitted programs, resulting in difficulties in submitting the free subject category.
The submitted program is a translator, StoK, from a Scheme program to its KL1 program. Since there are no competitors, it was difficult for the committee members to decide a prize for the program. In contrast with last year's programs, we decided to give it an honorable mention. We had hoped that many programs would be submitted, since the free subject category encourages KL1 programmers to express their individuality as well as programming techniques.
Honorable mention : Mr. Oyama Yoshihiro

The submitted program is a translator, StoK, from a Scheme program to its KL1 program. The original translator was developed using Scheme, then the translator compiled itself into StoK written in KL1. It was interesting to see the applicability of KL1 to the writing of a language processor.
Owing to the applicant's experience, the resulting compiler has distinctive functions with a short development time. Completion of the working program deserves an honorable mention.
